ECO Summit 2018
3rd July 2018
We were able to take 13 children to the EYE Eco Summit 2018, hosted at Worthing High School. It was a fantastic (and very hot) day! The children took part in a range of workshops including solar car racing, conservation, building a new home for nature out of 'old rubbish', natural percussion and kite flying with Lewis Crathern.
The aim of the summit is to inspire and enthuse children about protecting and preserving our natural resources, as well as giving the children practical ideas and activities to help spread the eco messages back at school.
One of the main themes this year was plastic in our oceans, and the BBC's recent documentary Blue Planet II was referred to numerous times. Our children, particularly the Year 4s, were certainly inspired by the messages from Blue Planet and the eco summit, hopefully these children can work together to lead Bramber over the next year in making the necessary changes to protect our planet.
Thank you to Ben, Charlotte, Harvey, Sasha, Mia, Luca, Amir, Alina, Ava, Leon, Chelsea-May, Tod and Cameron for your dedication and thoughtful, intelligent contributions to the workshops. I was very proud of your attitudes and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Thank you also to Mrs Hallard, who came with us to the workshop and supported the children in their groups.
